A South Bend hotel has fallen into rough shape, and neighbors say it's becoming an eyesore. Nearby business owners say they've spent thousands of dollars putting in new age to make Lincoln Way more attractive, and they say the motel is a bad apple. Kranc points to what he says is a bad element at the Knights Inn on Lincoln Way. Walking down Iowa Street, piles of trash, furniture and old fixtures litter the motel parking lot. Business owners along Lincoln Way say they've sunk thousands of dollars on upkeep, with matching dollars from the city to put in new attractive s and lighting.
South Bend code enforcement inspectors paid a visit to the hotel on Tuesday. They say right now, the hotel is in the warning stage, meaning the hotel has received a letter from the city telling them to straighten up and clean up their act. A hotel manager told me today, they're working on it. He says their dumpster fills up too fast from trash left by guests and some of the materials hauled out of the back building, which is no longer in use.
South Bend police say they were last called to the motel on May 23rd for a drug arrest. Police and code enforcement say if they receive any more valid complaints, the motel could be labeled a chronic nuisance, which is not cheap. Making A Difference. Parent's Playbook. What's Good.
